Fixing Common Reddit Download Problems

Most of the time, Viddit works without a hitch. But occasionally you might run into issues when trying to download a Reddit video. Here's a rundown of the most common problems and how to fix them.

"We couldn't find any media inside this post"

This message means Viddit couldn't detect downloadable content at the URL you provided. Here are the usual causes:

• The post was deleted. If the original poster or a moderator removed the post, the media is gone too.
• It's a text post. Not all Reddit posts contain media. If the post is just text (even with links in the body), Viddit may not find downloadable content.
• The URL is wrong. Make sure you're copying the full Reddit post URL, not a comment link or a shortened URL.

Private or Quarantined Subreddits

If a subreddit is set to private, Viddit can't access the content inside it. This is a Reddit restriction, not a Viddit limitation. The same applies to quarantined subreddits that require you to opt in before viewing.

Unfortunately, there's no workaround for this. The content has to be publicly accessible for Viddit to download it.

NSFW Content Issues

NSFW posts can sometimes cause issues, especially if you're using a shortened or shared link. Try copying the direct URL from your browser's address bar while viewing the post on Reddit. The full URL format should look something like: reddit.com/r/subreddit/comments/postid/title

The Video Downloads Without Sound

Viddit automatically merges audio and video for Reddit downloads. If your video has no sound, it's likely because the original video was uploaded without audio, or it's a GIF (which never has audio). Check the Reddit player for a speaker icon to confirm whether the original has sound.

Browser-Related Issues

Sometimes the problem is with your browser rather than the link:

• Try a different browser. If downloads aren't starting, switch to Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
• Disable ad blockers temporarily. Some ad blockers can interfere with the download process.
• Clear your cache. An outdated cached version of the site might cause issues.
• Check your internet connection. A slow or unstable connection can interrupt downloads.

Mobile-Specific Issues

Android

If downloads aren't working in your mobile browser, try the Viddit Android app instead. It's designed specifically for downloading Reddit content on mobile.

iPhone/iPad

Make sure you're using Safari, not Chrome or another browser. Safari handles file downloads differently on iOS. Tap and hold the download button, then select "Download Linked File" to save properly.

The URL Format Matters

Viddit works best with standard Reddit post URLs. Here are some formats that work:

Shortened links, comment-specific links, or links to Reddit user profiles won't work for downloading post media.
